Report: Packers give Williams big money
The Green Bay Packers signed cornerback Tramon Williams to a four-year, $33 million contract extension, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported Tuesday.
The deal, which runs through 2014, will reportedly pay Williams an average of $8.25 million per season.
Under the deal, Williams would be guaranteed about $11 million, while receiving a $6 million signing bonus and bonuses of $2.5 million in 2011, $2.8 million in 2012, and $300,000 in 2013 and 2014 if he remains on the roster.
The Packers and Williams' agent, Rodney Williams, completed the deal last week, but the team waited until Tuesday to announce it.
Williams, 27, was undrafted in 2006 out of Louisiana Tech and signed by Green Bay in Nov. of that year. He has blossomed into one of the better cover men in the league over the past two seasons, intercepting eight passes in that time.
