Report: Owens cited for carpool violation

Published Sep. 17, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

NFL star Terrell Owens was cited in Los Angeles earlier this week for allegedly driving solo in the carpool lane, TMZ reported Saturday.

Owens, who is still recovering from surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament, was also ticketed for expiring his registration and for driving with overly-tinted windows on his 2003 VW Beetle.

The unattached wide receiver was pulled over by officers Monday after violating the two-or-more-passengers rule.

Owens could be forced to pay up to $381 for the carpool violation, but can avoid paying the other two tickets if he updates his registration and replaces the vehicle's windows.
