Report: Jets now want more for Revis
The drama between the Jets and Darrelle Revis, and the cornerback’s potential move to Tampa Bay, has hit yet another wall.
On Sunday, the Jets said they would likely force Revis to attend non-mandatory spring workouts if he wants to receive his $3 million roster bonus, despite his desire to continue rehabbing a knee injury in Arizona.
Most analysts, however, believe the Jets’ preferred course of action would be to trade Revis, and that the Buccaneers are the most likely trade partner. And so the snag de jour became Tampa Bay’s presumed unwillingness to give up a first-round pick in this year’s draft for Revis. Now, the Bucs want Revis and now say they are willing to give up a first-rounder for the Jets cornerback.
So done deal, right?
Not quite. Pro Football Talk reports that the Jets want more than that for their former All-Pro. In fact, they want “a lot more” than just the 13th overall pick from the Bucs, according to the report. What exactly New York wants is still uncertain.
The Buccaneers added former 49ers safety Dashon Goldson on March 13, but they’re going to need a lot more help in the secondary to improve a pass defense that ranked last in the NFL last season.
