Report: Cowboys LB fined for hit on Vick

Published Dec. 16, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

Two people with direct knowledge of the decision say Cowboys linebacker Anthony Spencer has been fined $12,500 by the NFL for knocking helmets with Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick.

The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the league had not announced the punishment. Spencer was not available for comment while reporters were allowed in the locker room Thursday and his agent, Roosevelt Barnes, did not return a phone call.

Spencer was penalized for a personal foul on the hard hit right after Vick threw the ball on what was an incompletion late in the first half Sunday night.

That play came in the same quarter that Eagles coach Andy Reid was screamed at officials for not throwing a flag against Spencer for shoving Vick out of bounds.
