Redskins draft Iowa CB Jordan Bernstine
The Redskins finished their draft by taking a second straight defensive back, Iowa's Jordan Bernstine.
A college teammate of guard Adam Gettis, selected in the fifth round, the 5-foot-11, 205-pound Bernstine gives Washington three defensive players to go with six offensive selections.
Bernstine, a strong safety last year when he had 89 tackles, also played cornerback at Iowa and should compete for playing time.
LaRon Landry, the Redskins' strong safety the past five seasons, signed with the New York Jets as a free agent. Free safety Oshiomogho Atgowe was released. Washington signed free agent safeties Madieu Williams, Tanard Jackson and Brandon Meriweather to compete with holdovers Reed Doughty and DeJon Gomes. Meriweather was arrested on a DUI charge this week and spent the night in the Arlington County (Va.) jail.
