Ray Rice not on Buffalo Bills' radar
The Buffalo Bills are not lacking depth at the running back position with LeSean McCoy, Anthony Dixon, Bryce Brown, Fred Jackson and rookie Karlos Williams on the roster. Despite that, the Bills may be looking into adding a high profile name to the backfield.
In an article published last week by Sports Illustrated, an unnamed 'high level club executive' speculated that the Buffalo Bills could be a potential landing spot for Ray Rice.
Why the Bills of all teams? As per the article, "Buffalo could be another team to watch with Rice. They don’t have a need at running back right now, but I’m told Rex Ryan thinks the world of him from their time together in Baltimore [in 2008]. He loves him. He doesn’t like him. He loves him."
While there is speculation about the Bills signing him, a Bills source told ESPN.com that the team has no interest in signing the former Raven.
With five running backs on the roster already, adding depth to the position would be among the last things the team would be expected to do.
Rice was cut by the Baltimore Ravens before the 2014 season after video surfaced of him hitting his wife at a casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. However, Rice has been cleared to play in the NFL again.
If Rice is to sign, he would have a chance to bounce back from his worst statistical season since his rookie year in 2008. In 2013, Rice rushed for 660 yards and four touchdowns and caught 58 passes for 320 yards and zero touchdowns.
