Rams' Fisher reverses field, benches Foles in favor of Case Keenum
St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher benched starting quarterback Nick Foles on Monday in favor of Case Keenum.
With the Rams having lost two straight and Foles failing to pass for more than 200 yards since Week 1, Fisher announced that Keenum will get the start in Sunday's matchup at the Baltimore Ravens.
Foles was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason in exchange for Sam Bradford in a swap of starting quarterbacks, but he has thrown for only seven touchdowns in nine games - three of them coming in Week 4 at Arizona. The Rams have the league's worst passing attack with an average of 188.7 yards per game.
Fisher made his decision 24 hours after saying switching quarterbacks was not the solution for St. Louis in the wake of a 37-13 home loss to the Chicago Bears. Foles finished 17-of-36 for 200 yards and an interception before he was yanked late in the game.
Keenum started eight games for the Houston Texans in 2013, throwing for 1,760 yards and nine touchdowns against six interceptions. He also made a pair of starts for the Texans in 2014 and owns a career completion percentage of 55.2 percent.
