Raiders QB Derek Carr's agent says finger injury 'very minor situation'

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr will not need surgery on his finger and will probably be able to throw by early June, his agent told the San Francisco Chronicle on Wednesday.

Carr suffered an injury to his right ring finger, which reportedly might have required surgery. But Carr's agent debunked that report.

"I don't know where this idea came up that he's going to be having surgery," agent Tim Younger told the Chronicle. "The situation, I don't even want to call it an injury, is very minor, and we're just being cautious."

Carr played in all 16 games his rookie year in 2014, throwing for 3,270 yards and 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. But despite Carr missing the start of the Raiders' OTAs started Tuesday, Young downplayed the injury.

"It's a very minor situation," Younger said. "I think he's probably going to be throwing before the end of" OTAs.
