Raiders' Butler could be in line for a bigger 2015 role

Amari Cooper can get all the preseason press.

Michael Crabtree can get some bounce-back buzz.

Jack Del Rio knows receiver Brice Butler is capable of plays like this -- and against the Rams, it showed.

“I thought Brice was good the other night,” Del Rio told ESPN's Bill Williamson. "I thought he had a nice showing.”

This isn't last season's Raiders receiving corps. Butler is now part of a deep and talented stable of wideouts that could make some noise in the AFC.

But it was Butler who made the biggest noise in the preseason opener. He caught a game-high six balls for 57 yards and one impressive touchdown.

He had 21 catches for the Raiders in 2014. Del Rio sounds ready to boost that number.

“Guys that do well get more, guys that don’t do as well get less," Del Rio said of Butler's night. "It’s really pretty cut and dry. We’re going to want to look at more of guys that do well and do good things with the reps they get."
