Prominent booster: Manziel is 'through with football'

Published Apr. 7, 2016 10:53 a.m. ET

Oklahoma State booster T. Boone Pickens, a wealthy business man and one of the most prominent boosters in collegiate athletics, believes Johnny Manziel has played his last snap in the NFL.

TMZ recently asked Pickens, who is friends with Jerry Jones, if Manziel is on the Dallas Cowboys’ radar. Pickens said he doesn’t believe there are any teams interested in the former Texas A&M star.

“There’s no place for Manziel,” Pickens said. “He’s through with football.”

As for the Cowboys, Pickens said he had dinner with Jerry Jones and Jones told him Manziel is “not on the list.”

Jones confirmed last month that the Cowboys are not interested in signing Manziel, though he did offer some words of encouragement for the 24-year-old. At the moment, Manziel might be too busy hanging out with celebs like this to care about his football career. We wouldn’t be surprised if no teams come calling.
