When you think about it, it makes perfect sense that defensive linemen have historically been the biggest stars (literally and figuratively) on defense. Some of them had killer nicknames — the Fearsome Foursome, the Purple People Eaters, the Steel Curtain. After all, the guys attacking and clobbering opposing quarterbacks are easy to spot, especially when they chop down the heart of the offense.
