Pete Carroll says Russell Wilson has an MCL sprain, could miss Week 4

The Seattle Seahawks were given a huge scare Sunday, when Russell Wilson left their game against the San Francisco 49ers with a left knee injury. However, it wasn’t nearly as bad as it appeared.
On Monday, head coach Pete Carroll announced on ESPN 710’s “Brock and Salt” that an MRI confirmed Wilson has an MCL sprain, though the quarterback “feels great.”
The injury isn’t exactly minor, but it also isn’t season-ending, which it easily could have been after his left leg seemingly got crushed by a 49ers defender. Wilson isn’t certain to play on Sunday against the Jets as Carroll will consider sitting him ahead of the team’s Week 5 bye:
The Seahawks would be smart to play it safe with their franchise quarterback, and Trevone Boykin was decent in spot duty after Wilson left the game Sunday.

Wilson’s status for Week 4 will depend on the stability of his knee, which is why he’d likely wear a brace, Carroll says:
Wilson has never missed a game in his career, and Sunday was the first time he’s ever missed a snap. There’s no questioning his toughness, but it’s a long season and the Seahawks will only remain contenders with him healthy.
