Patriots will sign ex-Ram Chris Long hours after dealing Chandler Jones
The Patriots have been very busy Tuesday.
Hours after trading Pro Bowl defensive end Chandler Jones to the Cardinals, New England is expected to sign former Rams defensive end Chris Long to a one-year deal, FOX Sports NFL Insider Mike Garafolo confirmed.
Long, 30, spent his first eight years in St. Louis, totaling 54 1/2 sacks in his career. He is coming off back-to-back injury-shortened seasons after not missing a game his first six years in the league.
Long, who was drafted second overall in 2008, had back-to-back double-digit sack seasons in 2011 and 2012.
Long, who was cut by the Rams last month, missed four games last season due to a broken bone in his knee that he suffered in Week 5. He missed 10 games in 2014 after suffering an ankle injury.
