The Green Bay Packers have had one of the most charming traditions in the NFL for the past 50 years.
Every training camp, the players pick children out of the crowd and ride their bicycles from the Lambeau Field locker room to the community-owed team's practice facility across the street. At the end of practice they make the ride back to the locker room.
Vince Lombardi was the first coach to ask his players to do it, hoping it built the relationship with the fans. An NFL spokeswoman knows of no other team that does anything similar.
Most of the players get a kick out of it: They get a break after practice, biking along while an eager fan carries their shoulder pads and helmet.
