Packers at Vikings: Odds, trends and more
The latest Packers at Vikings odds, trends and other information ahead of their 2016 NFL Week 2 matchup.
In the second Sunday Night Football game of the year, the Green Bay Packers will travel to take on the Minnesota Vikings. This is not only an exciting NFC North matchup between rivals, it will be the first regular season game in the Vikings’ new U.S. Bank Stadium.
Despite being the road team, the Packers are a 2.5 point favorite in this matchup, according to OddShark. Also, the over/under for the game is set at 44 points.
Both teams had a successful Week 1 game and enter this important Week 2 battle at 1-0. The Packers received a bit of a scare from the Jacksonville Jaguars, but Aaron Rodgers and company were able to take care of business with a 27-23 victory.
With Jordy Nelson back and seemingly healthy, the Packers’ offense appears to be fully loaded and ready to go. That being said, they will face a tough test this week.
The Vikings’ defense is loaded with talent all over the field. They played a huge role in their Week 1 25-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The Vikings’ defense created two turnovers that were returned for touchdowns last week, which was the difference in this game.
Rodgers and his high-octane offense against the stout Vikings’ defense will be an awesome matchup to watch in this one. It will also be interesting to see if Adrian Peterson can improve from his ugly 19-carry, 31-yard Week 1 performance.
Betting Trends
Unfortunately, the trends do not paint a very clear picture. The Vikings sit at 11-3 against the spread in their last 14 games at home, and that includes winning their last five. The always solid Packers are 5-2 in their last seven games against the spread on the road.
The Vikings’ quarterback situation makes this such a difficult bet to make. It is hard to bet against Aaron Rodgers when Shaun Hill or Sam Bradford will be taking snaps on the other side. That being said, the Vikings are always rock solid at home.
There are some tough decisions to make here if you are set on betting on this NFC North battle.
