Offensive coordinator Chryst among 10 coaches fired by 49ers
Offensive coordinator Geep Chryst was among 10 coaches fired Tuesday by the San Francisco 49ers.
Chryst's ouster, first reported by Pro Football Talk and confirmed by the San Jose Mercury News, per a league source, was considered a formality after the 49ers fired coach Jim Tomsula and hired Chip Kelly as his replacement.
In Chryst's lone season as offensive coordinator, San Francisco averaged a league-low 14.9 points and ranked next-to-last in total offense with an average of 303.8 yards per game.
Quarterbacks coach Steve Logan, wide receivers coaches Adam Henry and Ronald Curry and offensive assistants T.C. McCartney and Joe Scola also were let go. On the other side of the ball, defensive line coach Scott Brown, secondary coach Tim Lewis and defensive assistants Ejiro Evero and Aubrayo Franklin were dismissed.
I’m hearing #49ers RB coach Tom Rathman is expected to remain on Chip Kelly’s staff.
