NFL Schedule: Who plays on Monday night Week 8?

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Monday Night Football in Week 8 of the 2016 NFL season will be on Halloween night. Which two teams will be playing on this ESPN primetime telecast?

It’s only fitting that the 13th game of the Week 8 NFL slate will be played on Halloween night. Monday Night Football in Week 8 will feature a pair of NFC North rivals for our enjoyment, or just something to look at while we pound Halloween candy like we’re preteens.

The Chicago Bears will host their rival Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football on October 31st. Kickoff from Soldier Field will be at 8:30 PM ET. ESPN will have the telecast.

According to OddsShark.com, the Bears will be getting four points at home to the Vikings on Monday night. This is understandable, as Chicago might be the worst team in the NFC. The Bears are a lowly 1-6 on the season. Their only win came against the rival Detroit Lions.

Minnesota leads the NFC North at 5-1, but the Vikings are coming off their first loss of 2016. The Vikings stumbled in Week 7 after their bye to fall to the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.

Minnesota needs to take care of business against the Bears, as the Vikings only have a one-game lead over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North. Detroit is only 1.5 games back of the first-place Vikings. Monday Night is a terrific opportunity for the Vikings to right their ship after a tough Week 7 loss to the Eagles.

Chicago may be down and out, but the Bears do get starting quarterback Jay Cutler back this week. He has been out for over a month with an injury. Cutler has fallen out of favor in the Windy City, but is clearly the better option at quarterback over Matt Barkley now that Brian Hoyer is out for the season with a broken forearm.

Though Chicago is probably ready to move on from Cutler, this is at least an opportunity for him to essentially audition for a new team in 2016. Maybe he rejoins his former offensive coordinator Adam Gase in Miami?
