NFL 2016: Signs your team needs to pack it in

Your NFL team sucks. If you don’t know by now then sit down because we’ve gotta talk.

We’re just now going into the heart of the NFL season and for the most part, everything seems to be going well for a majority of the league.

Then you have teams who are just plain bad. Crappy, actually. At this point you should know that your team, or your friend’s team, is pretty bad. Still, if you don’t know your team is trash I’ve got a few ways to point out a garbage team.

Your team can’t stop a nosebleed

On any given Sunday, you watch a team play defense and they might make a stop here and there and that’s just fine. Then you have some teams who make stops all the time or in some cases, they make the big stops when they matter most. For instance, the Seattle Seahawks’ final stand against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Then you’ve got some teams who are virtually unwatchable on defense. No matter how many chances a particular team gets, they just screw up. Take the Indianapolis Colts for example. This past Sunday, the Colts let Brock Osweiler of all people drive on them in the final seconds to put the game into overtime. When it came to overtime Osweiler did it again. Ugh.

The Colts aren’t the only team who have a fetish for seeing other teams score on them. The defending NFC-champion Carolina Panthers surely miss Josh Norman. For the second week in a row Carolina loses a game due to its inept secondary. Now it sits at 1-5 and will be nowhere near the playoff picture this season.

Your team has used multiple quarterbacks and nothing has changed

There is an old saying in the NFL that states the following: if you’ve got two quarterbacks, then you have none. For some teams, they’ve used two and three quarterbacks and it still hasn’t worked. I’m pretty sure the Browns are on their sixth quarterback or something like that.

Having stability at the quarterback spot is one of the most important things you need to be successful in the NFL. For some reason some teams just don’t have it. The 49ers need to draft one next season as it’s clear more and more that Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick will not be the man to lead this team in 2017.

The Jets gave Ryan Fitzpatrick a boatload of money and he’s thanked them by giving the ball away a boatload of times. Now the Jets have to choose between he and Geno Smith. That might be the most depressing I’ve heard all season.

You’re the Cleveland Browns

You’re the Browns. You were brought back to the NFL to be terrible. That is all.

Your team is in the AFC South

Someone has to win this division. It’s in the rule book. I’m sorry.

Look, there’s two teams in the AFC South sitting at .500 or above and everybody has more than one win. Still, this division is so hard to watch and it may take nine wins to clinch the division. The division’s biggest star, J.J. Watt, is out for the season. The second-biggest star, Andrew Luck, is just awful but it’s not his fault. The AFC South is home to the leagues worst GM in the Colts’ Ryan Grigson. If you need to know how bad he is, take a look at the Colts 2013 draft and see how many members of that class are still around.

The Titans and Jaguars have been in constant rebuild mode for the last decade so you’d think that winning this division would be easy for anybody. Nope. This division is going to be a pillow fight in the mud and that image is awful.

Summation: If you are a fan of the Jets, Browns, 49ers, Panthers or a team in the AFC South then your team is trash. You need to look forward to 2017.
