New England Patriots Week 3: Jacoby Brissett earns Player of the Week

With the help of a defensive shut out, great field position, and a solid running game, Jacoby Brissett did his job and led the New England Patriots to a 27-0 victory.
My honorary mention is Malcolm Butler who did a fantastic job shutting down whoever he was covering on each play but Jacoby Brissett handled the prime time stage in his first career start as a rookie.
New England had a short week of practice to prepare Brissett and installed a different offense against a very good defensive unit. The Patriots’ coaching staff coached one of the best games this writer has ever seen, using Brissett’s legs to move the sticks and score touchdowns that caught Houston off balance all night.
The speed option where Brissett was able to gain good yardage paired with the naked bootleg for a touchdown were calls that no one in Gillette Stadium saw coming. It was fantastic.
Brissett was 11 for 19 with 103 yards passing. He also rushed for 48 yards. His release looked clean, the ball came out quickly, and he didn’t force throws to his first read when they weren’t open. Brissett did what was asked of him and had a solid first start.
It is unknown if Brissett or Garolopolo will start for the Patriots next week but I’m willing to bet that the team is confident in whoever is under center.
The New England Patriots host the Buffalo Bills for the fourth and final game of Tom Brady’s suspension.
