Vince Lombardi is going to Broadway. The Hall of Fame coach's life will be brought to life in a stage production based on the best-selling book "When Pride Still Mattered," by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss. Lombardi was a pioneering coach who led the Green Bay Packers to the first two Super Bowl titles. The sport's ultimate prize is named in honor of Lombardi. Lombardi's fame has crossed into pop culture because of his inspirational locker room speeches. Fran Kirmser, one of the show's producers, said Monday that "sport produces great human drama" in explaining why Lombardi makes a good subject for a Broadway production. The play is scheduled for its debut on Broadway in the fall of 2010.
