McKnight inactive for Jets, Orton out for Chiefs

Published Dec. 13, 2011 5:16 p.m. ET

New York Jets running back Joe McKnight, the NFL's leading kick returner, will not play against the Kansas City Chiefs because of a hyperextended right elbow that limited him in practice all week.

McKnight, injured last Sunday at Washington, is being replaced by Antonio Cromartie on Sunday as the Jets' primary kick returner.

Jets right guard Brandon Moore is active and starting after missing practice all week with a sore hip. Defensive lineman Mike DeVito was inactive, as expected, with a sprained left knee and replaced by Ropati Pitoitua.

Tyler Palko will start again at quarterback for the Chiefs after Kyle Orton was not active after injuring his right index finger on his only play last week at Chicago. Linebackers Jovan Belcher (shoulder) and Demorrio Williams (groin) are active.
