Manziel party reportedly reason for his walk-through tardiness
Johnny Manziel's tardiness Saturday might now be explained.
Manziel, who is on the injured reserve list while rehabbing a hamstring injury, threw a party Friday night that was attended by many members of the team and was the reason for his showing up late to a team walk-through, CBS Sports reported Sunday. The Browns fined Manziel as a result.
The Browns had to send security personnel to Manziel's house to try and locate him when he did not show up for Saturday's walk-through, according to the report.
This would be the latest incident of Manziel's off-field antics affecting his standing with the team. Manziel was seen on multiple occasions during the offseason partying with teammates and celebrities, and even was famously photographed drinking a bottle of -- something -- on an inflatable swan.
Manziel promised to take his job as Browns quarterback more seriously, but this latest episode might give the organization reason to be concerned. He struggled in his two starts this season, going 13 for 26 for 112 yards and two interceptions before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16.
"The main thing is I'm not the guy that I've always been," Manziel said on Tuesday. "I'm not the Johnny Manziel that came in here a year ago and was talking to you guys when I first got here. I feel like I hardly know you guys, but it's a lot different now obviously for me. It's been a year of growing up for me. This is a job for me now. I have to take this a lot more seriously than maybe I did at first still going home and doing whatever I was doing in the offseason."
