Los Angeles Rams Fall 17-10 to New York Giants Thanks to Case Keenum's Four Interceptions
At this point last week, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Case Keenum was receiving all sorts of praise after recording four touchdowns against the Detroit Lions. After Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants, there’s a good chance the debates over whether Jared Goff should be the starter is going to increase.
Despite having a chance on their final offensive drive of the game, the Rams fell 17-10 to the New York Giants as the team fell to 3-4 on the season while entering the bye week on a three-game losing streak. A few weeks ago, Los Angeles seemed to be a team to keep an eye on in the NFC with a 3-1 record, but Sunday’s game shows this team is far from being a contender.
After Tavon Austin caught a 10-yard touchdown following a turnover by the Giants on the opening drive of the game, all signs pointed to the Rams getting back on the winning track, especially after jumping out to an early 10-0 lead later in the first quarter. Instead, those 10 points ended up being the only ones scored by Los Angeles all game as this team has plenty to figure out in the next two weeks.

For starters, the four interceptions thrown by Keenum against the Giants (even though the one wasn’t his fault) has fans calling for Goff to take over the starting job at quarterback. Keenum may have seemed like the best option for the Rams at the beginning of the season, but Sunday’s performance is the perfect example of why the quarterback has struggled to find consistent work throughout his career.
Even if Goff is inexperienced, anything seems like a better option than Keenum at this point.
What’s even more unfortunate is the Rams’ defense played well for the most part as they kept the Giants out of the end zone for the entire first half. It’s never easy to shutdown an offense loaded with talent like Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz, but Los Angeles kept these wide receivers in check for the most part.
Two weeks from now, the Rams will face another tough matchup against the defending NFC Champions in the Carolina Panthers, even if they are off to a disappointing 1-5 start. When considering all of the areas in need of improvement, it will be interesting to see what’s in store for Los Angeles, especially at the quarterback position.
