Kirk Cousins Gets Into Holiday Spirit At Presser

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:48 p.m. ET

Kirk Cousins is certainly getting into the holiday spirit! He wore a pretty cool Christmas suit at his press conference Saturday night.

The NFL may have scheduled games on Christmas Eve to avoid playing on Christmas, but Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins still found a way to bring some Christmas cheer during his press conference. Or rather, his suit did.

Cousins showed up to his post game press conference in a spectacle of a suit. The over the top jacket, which apparently needed PR approval, was green and speckled with colored lights. As it turns out, the outfit was not Kirk’s idea — that honor belongs to his wife, Julie Cousins, per CSN Mid-Atlantic.

My wife always packs my suit and I just grab the bag when I come home and don’t even look at it. I opened it up just now and saw this,” Cousins said. “It comes with pants and a matching tie, but I thought that was overkill. So we won and it’s Christmas Eve. I thought, ‘Why not?”

The usually mild-mannered quarterback eventually debuted the entire ensemble — pants and tie included — in the locker room. He could be heard whistling “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” as he exited.

Cousins certainly had plenty to cheer about in addition to the Yuletide, as the Redskins’ rout of the Bears kept their playoff hopes alive and ended a streak in which the team dropped three of four. Perhaps his suit was the only thing louder than his play today — he threw for 270 yards and a touchdown, and ran in two more.
