Johnny Manziel involved in incident with overzealous fan

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was reportedly involved in an incident in Irving, Texas on Saturday with an overzealous fan. Police were involved.
Rumors began circulating early Sunday when several people spotted Manziel in discussion with authorities at the Byron Nelson Classic, a PGA golf tournament. Naturally, speculation began to swirl with several individuals on Twitter claiming to have been witnesses.
Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot was the first to provide some insight on the matter after she spoke to Manziel's agent
"Fan was harrassing him, he handled it appropriately by talking to some security guards," Erik Burkhardt said.
While many were quick to point out that Manziel’s agent would naturally paint his client in a positive light, Irving police seemed to corroborate the story. A police spokesman told Cabot that Manziel threw a water bottle at an 18-year old fan who was harassing him. No charges were filed after hotel security intervened, and police did not suspect that Manziel had been drinking.
While we remain unsure as to why fans feel the need to interact with Manziel at levels that breach respect and standard decorum, this is not the first time Manziel has been harassed by a fan. Last November, Manziel was involved in an incident at his then-downtown residence. The fan, who felt a pressing desire to hug the professional football player, was reportedly assaulted by a member of Manziel’s crew, but later apologized publicly to Manziel.
Manziel is one of many Browns players to be taking some time away from Berea this weekend following the beginning of organized team activities. The team, at this point, has yet to release any statements on the matter.
