Jimmy Legree stands out at cornerback for Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jimmy Legree spent the 2014 season on the practice squad. This season, Legree is hoping to spend the entire season on the active roster.
Legree is doing a good job so far this offseason of making his dream a reality. Head Coach Bruce Arians told the Cardinals official website how impressed he has been with Legree through OTAs and minicamp.
“Jimmy had a good OTAs,” Arians said. “He got his hands on a couple balls. He’s bigger, thicker, this year, and more physical. He’s got a good chance.”
Legree credits his time on the practice squad last year for helping him make such a drastic improvement this offseason. He said going up against guys like Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd will make any player better.
“You get the chance to go against them every day and you have no choice but to get better,” Legree said, via AZCardinals.com. “You practice with the greats and you’ve got to become great yourself one day.”
Legree feels much more comfortable in his second season at Cardinals camp. Last year, he felt like he had to do it all in his own and prove himself, where as this year he doesn't mind asking for advice or help from the veteran guys.
“When you come in as a rookie, you don’t really know anybody,” Legree said. “Everybody’s looking at you like you’re the underdog. Coming in preseason last year and making a few plays, coming in you have to gain and earn their trust. I felt like I’ve done that. Now they’re helping me along the way, which allows me to play faster and make more plays.”
Legree doesn't know if he will make the active roster, but knows his name is in the conversation. He is going to continue working hard in hopes of fulfilling his NFL dream.
“That’s what everybody’s fighting for right now,” Legree said. “To even be considered to be in that rotation is a great thing, so whatever I’m doing, I’m doing right.”
