Jets' Matt Forte says he'll 'definitely' be ready for Week 1

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:38 p.m. ET

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) New York Jets running back Matt Forte says he'll ''definitely'' be ready to play in the regular-season opener against Cincinnati despite a hamstring injury that has prevented him from fully practicing during training camp.

Forte tweaked a hamstring while running on his own before camp opened nearly three weeks ago. He participated in individual drills Tuesday, as he did on Sunday. The Jets were off Monday. Forte had not done positional drills since Aug. 2 before working in consecutive practices.

He says he and the Jets are being ''super, super cautious'' about the injury.

The 30-year-old Forte, signed as a free agent in March after eight seasons in Chicago, is uncertain whether he will play in any preseason games.
