Jerry Jones injects himself into Romo sideline drama, as usual

Jerry Jones once again found a way to insert himself into the show on Monday night.

The Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager was seen on the sideline during the team’s eventual overtime loss to the Washington Redskins. Jones was on the sideline to update head coach Jason Garrett about the status of quarterback Tony Romo.

Romo went down in the third quarter after taking a knee to the back. The quarterback returned to the locker room for X-rays. When X-rays were negative, Romo decided he’d return to the game. He was given a painkilling shot to help.

Someone had to relay this information to Garrett. Normally, you might think a team trainer or doctor would do so. Or maybe even Romo himself.

Not in Dallas, though.

Jones was the man who’d deliver the message to the head coach.

“I was here during the tail end of the examination and knew he planned to come back out and play if he were needed,” Jones said, according to the Fort Worth Star Telegram. “Of course he was needed. I felt good that he could come back out. When he saw the opportunity he did. I told Jason that he would be back in.”

ESPN cameras caught the interaction between Jones and Garrett.

“It wasn’t a big deal to me at all,” Garrett told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
