Jaguars play without 2 starters against Rams

Published Oct. 18, 2009 5:36 p.m. ET

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without two defensive starters against the winless St. Louis Rams. Linebacker Justin Durant (hip) and safety Sean Considine (groin) were inactive for the second consecutive week Sunday. Backup cornerback Scott Starks (groin) and starting guard Maurice Williams (knee) also were inactive against the Rams. Safeties Anthony Smith and James Butler, guards Roger Allen III and John Greco, and receivers Nate Jones and Ruvell Martin were among the inactives for St. Louis. As expected, Adam Goldberg was in the Rams' starting lineup in place of right tackle Jason Smith. The second overall draft pick, Smith sprained his left knee last month and missed two games. He suited up last week against Minnesota, but played only on special teams.
