Injuries could have Rams shopping to add depth to secondary

The St. Louis Rams may be in the market for help in their secondary this week.

Cornerback Janoris Jenkins is in the league's concussion protocol while safety T.J. McDonald is also looming as a question mark after sustaining a shoulder injury in Sunday's home loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Cornerback Trumaine Johnson has missed the past two games with a thigh injury,

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said at his media briefing Monday that he is hopeful Johnson will return this week, but added that the team may be looking at outside options. One obvious choice could be cornerback Cary Williams, who was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Monday.

Jenkins absorbed a pair of hard hits from teammates McDonald and Mark Barron on Sunday before exiting the contest, which left Lamarcus Joyner and Marcus Roberson as the only healthy cornerbacks available.

Tight end Lance Kendricks also is in the concussion protocol while defensive end Robert Quinn is making progress, according to Fisher, who is hopeful that kicker Greg Zuerlein can practice this week. Zach Hocker, who has filled in for Zuerlein, was scheduled for an MRI exam after suffering a quadriceps strain Sunday.
