Ikemefuna Enemkpali added to Bills' active roster
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) The Buffalo Bills have promoted defensive end Ikemefuna Enemkpali from the practice squad to the active roster, putting him in position to begin serving a four-game suspension for punching then-New York Jets teammate Geno Smith.
Two people familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Friday that Enemkpali has been suspended. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the NFL hasn't announced the penalty.
Enemkpali broke Smith's jaw when he punched the quarterback Aug. 11. Enemkpali joined the Bills off waivers a day after the incident.
Enemkpali was released by Buffalo on Sept. 4, then signed to the practice squad Monday.
To make room for Enemkpali, the Bills released defensive tackle Andre Fluellen. Buffalo added defensive end Cedric Reed to the practice squad and reached an injury settlement with receiver Deonte Thompson.
