Graham gives Seahawks offense new look, flexibility

Published Jul. 27, 2015 3:30 a.m. ET

It's no coincidence one of the key storylines heading into 2015 is how much of an impact Jimmy Graham will have on the Seahawks offense.

How much better is unclear, but adding around 950 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns per season only makes Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch that much more dangerous.

Outside of giving Wilson a clear-cut No. 1 threat and a red-zone target, Graham gives the Seahawks offense a presence. If he lines up at wide receiver, Seattle has the option of two big targets on the field in Graham and another tight end.

After the trade, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll appeared on 710 ESPN Seattle and alluded to Graham's production on third downs. More than 50 percent of his catches on third down have gone for first downs, per Seahawks.com

Last season, the Seahawks started four different players at tight end. Entering 2015, they have have Graham - who has missed just two games in his five-year career - plus a number of other options in reserve, including Luke Willson, Cooper Helfet and Anthony McCoy.

Having Graham should help Seattle in more ways than one.
