GQ says Cleveland has worst teams

It’s not easy being a Cleveland sports fan.

Each season brings a lot of hope for the Cavaliers, Browns and Indians, but for the past six decades, all of them have ended in disappointment.

On Thursday, GQ unveiled its list of the worst pro sports franchises of all time, and all three Cleveland teams shared the No. 1 spot.

“Between the Browns, the Indians, and the Cavaliers,” the article read, “Cleveland last celebrated a title four years before LeBron's mother was born — that’s a combined 152 seasons of futility.”

It’s hard to dispute that those three Cleveland teams are among the worst franchises in sports history, but a strong argument for that distinction also could be made for the Detroit Lions, whom GQ ranked No. 2.

Since 1980, the Lions have a worse playoff record and three fewer conference championship appearances than the Browns. The Arizona Cardinals, who have made just six playoff appearances since 1949 with zero championships in that span, surprisingly appeared at No. 19 on GQ’s ranking.

Despite the lack of championships, Cleveland fans are among the most loyal in sports, and that’s something to be proud of.
