Former Ravens teammates say Rice deserves another shot in NFL

Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice is available, but it doesn’t seem like any NFL teams are interested right now.

If you ask his old teammate Torrey Smith, he thinks Rice deserves a second chance.

Here’s what Smith told TMZ:

“Good people make mistakes,” Smith says … “I believe in second chances and I think society is supposed to be built on the idea that you can suffer consequences and come back… People sometimes want you to apologize a certain way, crying or all upset. He’s made things right with his wife and family and earned respect with his actions since the incident.

“He’s a way better person than he showed on that tape.”

Smith isn’t the only guy who believes in Rice. According to a report by Clifton Brown at CSN, Derrick Mason (now with the Titans) says he hopes his team signs him:

“Your diehard fans that come there every week that have saw a lousy team over the last three or four years, they will come out and they will see a Ray Rice that is putting up numbers. You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain.”

I have a feeling that sooner or later one team will be willing to roll the dice on Rice.

Jerry Jones, this is your moment.
