Favre won't play vs. Eagles

Published Dec. 28, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

The Minnesota Vikings will not have quarterback Brett Favre (concussion, neck, right shoulder) for Tuesday’s game against the host Philadelphia Eagles.

Favre will be replaced by rookie Joe Webb. Favre did not dress for the game since he was not medically cleared to play. Journeyman quarterback Patrick Ramsey will back up Webb. Rhett Bomar, who the Vikings signed off the New York Giants practice squad recently, is the inactive third quarterback.

Also out for the Vikings are safeties Tyrell Johnson (knee) and Madieu Williams (concussion).

Backup safety Jamarca Sanford will start for Williams.

The good news for the Vikings is that starting running back Adrian Peterson will be in the lineup.

Expect the Vikings to go with a heavy dose of Peterson, who has been battling a knee injury, in order to take the pressure off Webb.
