Quarterback Trent Edwards and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed on a one-year contract.

Edwards hasn't played in the NFL since 2010. The deal was announced Thursday.

The 28-year-old Edwards is expected to be Michael Vick's backup, a role held by Vince Young last year.

Edwards started 32 games for Buffalo and one for Jacksonville in four seasons, going 14-19. He completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 6,019 yards and 26 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.
