Doug Martin is looking to kick his old nickname in 2015

Doug Martin knows what's at stake this season, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers chose not to pick up his 2016 option. This means that he's playing for a contract and his focus is completely on having a statement type year. Apparently, he's also looking to kick the old 'Muscle Hamster' nickname, according to Tom Pelissero of USA TODAY Sports.

"The name 'Muscle Hamster' is the worst nickname possibly ever given to somebody," Martin told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday, leaning into a reporter's recording device for effect. "I hope it changes, and I hope that I play to a level where my nickname changes. That's what my goals are."

Personally, I didn't think the nickname was all that bad, but apparently Martin is completely against it. Hey, to each their own, right? Here's to hoping that Martin can earn a different nickname in 2015, possibly one that relates to scoring a whole lot of touchdowns and picking up 1,000+ yards.
