Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman set to split reps this season?

Published May. 25, 2015 5:25 p.m. ET

One of the most intriguing positional battles on the roster of the Atlanta Falcons comes at running back between Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. Apparently, though, we may have already seen the outcome of the battle, as Vaughn McClure of ESPN reported that the Falcons are going to run a two-back system this coming season.

While Coleman is expected to be an instant-impact rookie, Freeman, who's heading into his second year, showed plenty of promise during his rookie season as well. With Steven Jackson now long gone, it'll be a two-headed monster, with veteran speedster Antone Smith set to fill in the role of the home run hitter more than likely.

It's going to be a story worth watching as we head through the offseason, as both Freeman and Coleman are likely to get the chance to prove that they should get the bulk of the work during the 2015 season.
