Derek Carr cleared to participate in Raiders' minicamp this week

Derek Carr will be back on the field when minicamp starts this week.

The Raiders gave their young franchise quarterback the go-ahead to participate after he sat out most of OTAs with a finger injury, according to FOX Sports 1 NFL Insider Mike Garafolo. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport first reported the news..

Carr was only able to throw short passes and execute handoffs since injuring his ring finger last month. It's encouraging that he'll return from what many sources described as a minor injury to lead his new-look Raiders offense.

Even at half speed, Carr could benefit from these practices -- and develop an early rapport with his new top receiver, Amari Cooper.
