DB Patterson back for healthier Browns

Published Dec. 9, 2012 12:31 p.m. ET

Browns cornerback Dimitri Patterson is active for the first time in seven games and will play against Kansas City.

Patterson has been sidelined since tearing a ligament in his left ankle in an Oct. 7 game against the Giants. Patterson plays mostly in the nickel back spot. With Patterson returning and safety Ray Ventrone healthy, rookie defensive back Trevin Wade and safety Eric Hagg are inactive.

Chiefs starting free safety Kendrick Lewis is out for the second straight week with a shoulder injury and will be replaced by rookie Tysyn Hartman, making his first career start.

Kansas City is also missing backup safety Abram Elam, who did not practice with this week with a quadriceps injury.
