Dan Quinn: Coleman, Freeman 'absolutely battling' for running back job
The starting running back job for the Atlanta Falcons is up for grabs, and apparently, both Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman have been all-in to this point in their battle to try to win the job. According to Chris Wesseling of NFL.com, Dan Quinn told SiriusXM NFL Radio that the two backs are "absolutely battling" for the starting job.
Whoever does end up winning the starting job may be sitting pretty under new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.
As Wesseling points out, "an underappreciated offensive guru, Shanahan has demonstrated a golden touch with rookie running backs in three different cities. Steve Slaton (Texans, 2008), Alfred Morris (Redskins, 2012) and the duo of Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West (Browns, 2014) have all enjoyed immediate NFL success under Shanahan."
Quite the resume with young running backs for Shanahan, but it'll be interesting to see which of these backs can pull ahead in the race for the starting job.
