Cowboys reportedly offered Murray deal averaging $5 million a year

The Dallas Cowboys might want a do-over on their reported offer to free agent DeMarco Murray.

The Cowboys offered Murray, last year's NFL's leading rusher, a deal that averaged about $5 million a season, Yahoo Sports reported Wednesday.

Murray, a two-time Pro Bowl running back, set the Cowboys' single-season rushing mark in 2014, gaining 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Murray also led the NFL in rushing attempts with 392, which probably has teams apprehensive in offering him a long-term deal heavily loaded with guaranteed money. Last season was the first time in Murray's four-year career that he played in all 16 regular-season games.
