Clemson WR Bryant eager to make a name for himself

If anyone fits the mold of as prototypical first-round wide receiver it’s Clemson’s Martavis Bryant.

At 6-foot-4 and 211 pounds, Bryant broke out from DeAndre Hopkins’ and Sammy Watkins’ shadows by making a name for himself last month at the NFL Combine.

“I feel pretty confident with what I did in Indy,” Bryant told FOXSports.com in a telephone interview. “I’ll just be running routes on my pro day.”

Bryant, who posted the fifth fastest 40-yard dash time at his position with a 4.42, has a long frame and a knack for catching the deep ball. While some questioned his ability to be a game-changing receiver at a consistent level, Bryant has stayed focused and confident.

“I proved that I can compete with everybody because people continue to doubt what I do,” Bryant said. “It just felt good to go out there and show everybody what I really can do.”

Besides having all the measurables, Bryant was an honorable mention on the All-ACC team last season. Bryant is a legit stretch-the-field threat, averaging 19.7 yards a catch with seven touchdowns in 2013. Although Bryant didn’t have the most production in offensive coordinator Chad Morris’ system, it never got under his skin.

“It's all about winning games,” Bryant said. I'm a team player so I wasn't ever concerned about my individual production.”

Bryant looks to wow scouts again alongside his former teammates Watkins and quarterback Tajh Boyd during his March 6 pro day. Despite draft gurus criticizing Bryant's inconsistent production, he’s certain that his skillset will ease his transition into the NFL.

“I'm naturally a good catcher,” Bryant said. “People are going to judge film how they want to but you can't really go by that. I know what I need to work on. I go to work every week and get better.”
