Chiefs reportedly place Jamaal Charles on injured reserve
Jamaal Charles' return to the Kansas City Chiefs' lineup lasted just three games, or 12 carries. Now a second straight season might be over.
The Chiefs placed Charles on injured reserve on Tuesday, multiple outlets reported, meaning the Chiefs' star running back will miss at least eight more weeks. Charles, who's been sidelined for five of the team's eight games, would be eligible to return for Week 17 at the earliest.
However, Charles needs another surgery on his right knee, the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports, and it's unclear how long it will take for him to recover. Charles tore his ACL last year and was placed on IR. He returned in Week 4 but experienced swelling that sidelined him, and a visit to Dr. James Andrews revealed his latest setback.
After visiting Dr. James Andrews, #KCChiefs RB Jamaal Charles will need a 2nd surgery on his knee, source said. Severity is unclear.

The Chiefs, already thin at running back after Spencer Ware sustained a concussion Sunday, signed former Titans second-round pick Bishop Sankey on Tuesday. Also, Trent Richardson worked out for the Chiefs, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.
