Chargers LB English has foot surgery

The San Diego Chargers say linebacker Larry English has had foot surgery and is expected to miss four to six weeks.

English started the first two games before sitting out last Sunday's 27-20 loss at Seattle. He had a half-sack. He was the team's first-round draft pick in 2009, when he had two sacks.

Also Tuesday, the Chargers signed their fourth long snapper of the season, Ethan Albright. He replaces Ryan Neill, who hurt a knee Sunday and was put on injured reserve.

Neill replaced James Dearth, who hurt a foot a day after being signed to replace David Binn, the 17-year veteran who injured a hamstring in a season-opening loss at Kansas City and was put on IR.

The Chargers also signed strong safety Quinton Teal and cornerback Dante Hughes. They also waived running back Curtis Brinkley and placed linebacker James Holt (shoulder) on IR.
