Chargers activate Ingram, place Verrett on IR

SAN DIEGO (AP) The San Diego Chargers have activated outside linebacker Melvin Ingram and placed cornerback Jason Verrett on season-ending injured reserve with a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Verrett, the Chargers' first-round draft pick, is expected to have surgery soon. He originally hurt his shoulder in a victory at Oakland on Oct. 12 - which he sealed with a last-minute interception - and aggravated it in a 35-21 loss at Denver three weeks ago.

Ingram was activated from injured reserve-designated to return. He'd been out since Sept. 20 with a hip injury.

The Chargers also signed safety Adrian Phillips from the practice squad to the active roster and released linebacker Cordarro Law from the active roster.
