Celek: Players will 'do anything' for Chip Kelly

Published Apr. 22, 2015 12:00 p.m. ET

Eagles veteran tight end Brent Celek has no concerns at all with Chip Kelly's massive roster overhaul this offseason. He finds it easy to get on board with Kelly's plan, and it helps that his teammates believe in the same thing.

“I think Coach Kelly, he understands what he wants on his team and he’s gonna get that,” Celek told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Wednesday. “I think a lot of the guys on this team, they respect that, and they’ll do anything for him.

Kelly has created a unique culture in his tenure with the Eagles, and some people have criticized him for being too stubborn about his ways. One area that doesn't warrant that same criticism is Kelly's ability to adjust his offensive game plan and move on from what is not working.

"I just love how, when things don’t work with Chip, he’ll find a way to fix them and he moves on," Celek added. "And there’s no—I don’t know how to say it. He just makes the change and goes.”

Of course, Celek is not speaking for every Eagle, and his opinion might be a tad biased. After all, he is a perfect fit for the culture that Kelly has bred. When asked about the dynamic between he and the Eagles' talented young tight end Zach Ertz, Celek had all of the right things to say.

“Listen, I’ve been here for a long time,” Celek said. “I understand that you get older and things can change and you can’t fight it. You just gotta go with it and that’s a part of life. Whatever happens, happens. I’ll be happy with whatever it is. I’ve been able to live my dream for eight years, going on nine now. Nothing is gonna hurt me.”

Celek is not someone who fails to practice what he preaches. If the team can get the entire roster to buy in to the culture as seamlessly as Celek has, the Eagles could be difficult to defeat in 2015.
