Carter out, Dallas rookie Hitchens starts again

Published Oct. 5, 2014 12:11 p.m. ET

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Dallas rookie linebacker Anthony Hitchens will make his third start of the season against Houston on Sunday with Bruce Carter inactive because of strained quadriceps.

Carter's absence means all three starting linebackers have missed at least one game because of injury for the Cowboys. Justin Durant missed two games with a groin strain, and Rolando McClain was out one with the same injury.

No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney will miss his fourth straight game for the Texans coming off arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Whitney Mercilus is starting in his place again.

Cowboys defensive tackle Terrell McClain is active after missing last week's game against New Orleans with a concussion.
