Cardinals sign O'Brien Schofield to 4-year deal

Published Jul. 27, 2010 9:49 p.m. ET

The Arizona Cardinals have signed linebacker O'Brien Schofield, a fourth-round draft pick, to a four-year contract.

Terms of the deal were not announced Tuesday. To make room on the roster, the Cardinals released tackle Devin Tyler, who was signed as a rookie free agent on April 26.

Schofield was considered one of the top pass rushers in this year's draft before he tore a ligament in his left knee in his first practice for the Senior Bowl. As a defensive end last season at Wisconsin, Schofield had 62 tackles, 12 sacks and 24 1/2 tackles for loss in 13 games.

Schofield is the fifth of Arizona's seven draft picks to come to sign. The Cardinals' top two picks - defensive tackle Dan Williams and linebacker Daryl Washington - remain unsigned.

The Cardinals report to training camp Friday in Flagstaff.
