Buzz Bissinger calls Nick Foles 'chicken' before dropping overly pompous line

Buzz Bissinger has a bone to pick with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, and he’s not afraid to let the world know.

The loud-mouthed, best-selling author of “Friday Night Lights” went on another anti-Foles rant Monday. After previously being turned down by Foles for an interview, Bissinger went on the offensive, reiterating his thought that Foles is soft and won’t ever be a Super Bowl-caliber quarterback.

Bissinger wrote a story about Foles in June. The quarterback denied an interview for that story in which Bissinger hammered Foles. Bissinger now thinks that Foles’ early-season struggles validate the story.

“(Foles) is a nice kid. He does have physical toughness. But if we think we are seeing a Super Bowl-caliber quarterbacks, we’re out of our minds ... you know the NFL is inconsistent, but do you really think it’s going to get better with the way he’s playing,” Bissinger said Monday on 94WIP, according to Philly.com.

Bissinger also labeled Foles a “chicken” and made it clear he doesn’t want to talk to Foles anymore. The Eagles quarterback missed his chance to speak to such a profound luminary like Bissinger.

“I got pride. Now? You think I want to interview him now? I would rather interview the Eagle mascot. Forget it. You know, the guy had his chance and he blew it. He had his chance to be interviewed by one of the greatest journalists of the country.”

OK, then. Despite those perceived faults, the Eagles are tied for the NFL’s best record at 4-1.
